Preserving the Home

NPLS provides a full range of services in all counties for:

Private landlord tenant evictions where there is meritorious defense
Private landlord self-help evictions, including cases in which there would be no defense to a legal eviction
Evictions from public or subsidized housing
Mortgage foreclose defense including bankruptcy in appropriate cases.
Enforcing legal protections regarding habitability
Utility shut-offs
Protection of rights and preservation of eligibility related to subsidized housing
Unauthorized entry by landlords or agents
Recovery of tenant property illegally seized or retained by landlords.

NPLS may provide some assistance, depending on the county for other housing–related problems, including eviction and mortgage problems not listed above or for problems with the return of a security deposit.

NPLS provides self-help material and community workshops on rights in housing and is available to train advocates and community organizations.

NPLS provides no services for real estate closings, boundary disputes or preparation of deeds. Fair Housing

Since 2009 North Penn Legal Services has served as Lehigh County's Fair Housing Office. North Penn Legal Services' policies and activities promote the awareness of fair housing requirements. Persons who believe they have experienced discrimination in housing rental, sales, or financing because of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status, disability, or familial status can contact North Penn Legal Services.
